India's Counter strategy against China

 DIAMOND NECKLACE STRATEGY

As China is trying to dominate its presence in the Indian Ocean with its String of Pearls strategy, India has made its own moves. Firstly reviving the QUAD. Standing with The United States of America, Japan,  and Australia, India is working towards a free, prosperous, and restriction-free Indo-Pacific region, for world trade.

Then comes the Diamond Necklace Strategy, a counter-encircling policy of India against China, improving its relationship with strategically placed countries around China. Delhi made really good relations with countries like Singapore, Oman, and Indonesia, as it got direct military access to these country's ports in 2018 and access to Seychelle's port back in 2015. The most important access here is the Sabang Port, of Indonesia. This port is situated at the mouth of Malacca Strait, which is one of the world's most famous choke points. Around 70%  of China's oil import moves through this strait, and the presence of the Indian military at Sabang port will pressure Beijing not to take a wrong step.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands also have a strong hold on the Malacca Straight due to their geographical placement, in case ties with Indonesia get weak India still has the upper hand in the region as Indian islands sit on the mouth of Malacca Straight.

Military access to Duqm port situated in the southern-eastern part of Oman secures India's crude imports from the Persian Gulf. Also helps to keep a check on China's Djibouti port in Africa and Gwadar port in Pakistan. The Naval base in Seychelles Assumption island will help India to make its presence in the African continent keeping an eye on Djibouti.

Prime Minister Narendra is the first Indian prime minister to visit Mongolia. In 2018, India and Mongolia decided to establish an air corridor for bilateral trade, both countries also discussed policies related to trade, economic cooperation, energy security, mining, and traditional medicine as part of high-level bilateral exchange. So far India has sold Brahmos missiles and 4 patrol boats to Vietnam, maintaining good relations with the country.

These strategic presences of India around China and in the Indo-Pacific region will easily counter China, and Beijing will have to think 100 times before taking a strong step in the region.
